I use Sow Cards during data entry, entering all of one sow’s information before moving onto the next identity. Can the Care 3000 program remember the sow’s identity from one event to the other? I do not like having to re-key the identity each time.
Answer
Absolutely!! The Care 3000 program can retain the sow’s identity from event to event during data entry. Follow the steps below to establish this process:
1. Click on Settings in the toolbar.
2. From the dropdown menu, click on Preferences. The Preferences for “USER” will appear
3. There are nine different categories: Sign-On Security, Importing Farm Data, Farm Identification, Female Age, Data Entry Settings, Report Settings, Language, Date Formats, SPI & BVSP
4. Highlight Data Entry Settings
5. In the Remember Identities section, click on the checkbox in front of “Remember last identity when moving from one event to the next”, placing a checkmark in the box.
6. Click on Apply
7. Click on OK

To learn more about setting System Preferences in Care 3000, see the following FAQ Establishing Program Settings in Care 3000. It includes a short video on establishing your preferences.

NOTE: This function will only work if the event switch is logical. For example, the identification will be retained if moving from a farrowing to a weaning. Moving from a farrowing to a mating will reset the identification.

The identification will be reset if switched to a data entry event that requires a unique identity (gilt arrival, boar arrival, etc.).
