My computer that was running PigCHAMP crashed. What do I need to save to keep my data files?
Answer
First of all, it is always wise to keep a regular schedule of backups just in case of a computer crash. If you don't have a current backup, you can try to salvage the data files from the crashed computer.

The data files needed are PigCHAMP Care.mdf and PigCHAMP Care_log.ldf. They can be found in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL. Save these files to a safe location.

Once the PigCHAMP program is reinstalled on a new or repaired computer, stop the database by going to Start > All Programs > Microsoft SQL Server 2005 > Configuration Tools > SQL Server Configuration Manager. Click on SQL Server 2005 Services in the left-hand pane. On the right side, right-click on PIGCHAMPDATA, choose stop. Move the saved PigCHAMP Care.mdf and PigCHAMP Care_log.ldf files into the C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL folder. You will have to copy them over the existing files. Go back to the SQL Configuration Manager window, right-click PIGCHAMPDATA, choose start.

Note that the data files must match the version you were running before the crash. You cannot move older data files into a newer version of the program.
