We seem to be farrowing at a shorter gestation length than we normally do. How can I investigate this in PigCHAMP?
Answer
Before you run any reports, you need to make sure that you have established your gestation length target in the PigCHAMP program. To set your targets, click on the Farms Menu, then click on Targets and Other Settings. The Gestation Length target can be found in the Farrowing Section of the Target screen.

Once the target has been set, there are several reports that you can run to see if you are reaching your Gestation Length goal. A few of the best reports to see this on are: Cohort Analysis, Gestation Length Histogram, and the Performance Trend Analysis.

The Farrowing Section of the Cohort Analysis will provide you with the average Gestation Length for each time period, as well as the average for the entire time period in which the report was ran.

The Gestation Length Histogram will provide you with a graphical look at the gestation length for the time period, and provide you with the average gestation length.

The Farrowing Section of the Performance Trend Analysis is much like the Cohort Analysis, except it will also show your target information so you can quickly tell if you are meeting your Gestation Length target.

The following document Gestation Length Reports.doc provides you with where to look for gestation length information on each of the reports mentioned above.
